WHY LAWYERLINK

Not all legal support is the same

A traditional firm bills by the hour. A template gives you a document with no one behind it. A Lawyerlink subscription gives you a real solicitor who knows your business, for a fee that doesn't change.

Frequently Asked
Questions

What does a Lawyerlink subscription actually cover?

Your subscription covers the commercial legal work your business deals with day to day. Contract drafting, review and amendments. Employment and HR advice. Shareholder and director matters. Commercial agreements, terms and conditions, supplier contracts. UK GDPR guidance. Advice on anything that comes up in the normal course of running and growing a business.

All of that is included in your monthly fee. There are no per-call charges, no per-document fees, and no bill at the end of the month. Your solicitor is there when you need them - you don't have to weigh up whether a question is "worth" asking.

What if I need something more specialist, like going to court or an employment tribunal?

Your subscription covers advice, negotiation, and document work. Court proceedings and tribunal representation sit outside the plan - these are reserved legal activities that require a separate engagement and separate cost.

That said, your solicitor won't just flag the issue and step back. They'll advise you on your position, explain your options clearly, and help you understand what to do next. If specialist representation becomes necessary, you'll know exactly what it will cost before anything is agreed. There are no surprises.

What size of business do you work with?

Our subscriptions are built for businesses from their first day of trading up to around £10m turnover. That covers a lot of ground - and we've structured the plans to reflect it.

If you're in your first year, the Launch plan gives you solid legal foundations as you get the business off the ground. As you grow and legal work becomes more frequent and more complex, the Accelerate and Scale plans move with you. At the Enterprise level, your solicitor can handle high volume and complexity across multiple areas.

What all four plans have in common is a dedicated solicitor, a fixed monthly fee, and no hourly billing.

If you're not sure which plan fits, we're happy to talk it through. Most clients find the right fit within a ten-minute conversation.

Is there a minimum commitment, and can I cancel?

Subscriptions run on a 12-month basis, with a 3-month break clause. We'll be upfront about why: because there are no caps on how much you use your solicitor, the annual term is what makes that possible. It means costs even out across the year - the quieter months balance the busy ones, and you never have to ration advice based on how much activity you've had that month.

In practice, most clients find they use us more than they expected. A question here, a contract there, a situation that needs thinking through - it adds up, and the subscription makes all of it straightforward. If your circumstances genuinely change, the break clause at three months gives you a fair exit point. We'd always rather have an honest conversation about what's working than hold someone to a contract that no longer fits.

Is it worth subscribing if I don't need a solicitor every month?

Our clients tell us the same thing: they thought they'd use us occasionally, and then found they were in touch far more than expected. Not because something went wrong - but because having a solicitor who knows your business makes it easy to ask. A quick question about a new supplier. A sense-check on a staff situation. Advice before signing something rather than after.

A subscription adapts to the rhythm of your business. You're not paying per question, and you're not trying to batch up queries to make a call worthwhile. Your solicitor is just there, whenever you need them.

Who will I actually be speaking to?

You'll have a named, dedicated solicitor assigned to your business - someone who gets to know how you operate, who your key people are, and what matters to you commercially. That's the same person you'll deal with each time, not whoever happens to be available.

All Lawyerlink solicitors are qualified and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). They're employed directly by us - we're not a marketplace, a panel, or a referral service. The solicitor who handles your work is accountable to us and to the SRA.

How quickly will you respond when I need help?

Through the Client Hub, you have direct access to your solicitor via instant messaging - not a contact form, not a general inbox. You can see their diary in real time and schedule a virtual meeting at a time that suits you.

You work directly with your dedicated solicitor, not through assistants or call centres. That's what instant access actually means.

How does a subscription compare to using a solicitor by the hour?

With hourly billing, the clock starts the moment a solicitor picks up the phone. A contract review can cost £500–£1,500 at standard rates. A dispute that runs for a few weeks can reach five figures before you've had a chance to weigh up whether it's worth continuing. Most business owners respond by putting off legal advice until something becomes unavoidable - which usually makes it more expensive to fix.

A subscription changes that calculation. One fixed monthly fee, and you contact your solicitor whenever you need to without thinking about the cost of the conversation. Legal support becomes a normal part of running your business, not an emergency spend you try to avoid.

How is a legal subscription different from legal expenses insurance?

Legal expenses insurance - typically £25–£200 per year - is reactive cover. It helps with costs if you end up in a dispute that's already escalated. It doesn't give you anyone to call before the problem happens.

A Lawyerlink subscription works the other way around. Your solicitor helps you avoid problems in the first place - reviewing contracts before you sign, advising on employment decisions before they become claims, keeping your business protected as it grows. The two products serve different purposes, and many Lawyerlink clients have both. But if you want a solicitor who knows your business and is in your corner from the start, insurance alone won't give you that.
